The latest OneDrive Features You Need to Know

| July 16, 2020

Microsoft OneDrive’s newest features provide better collaboration, and productivity for all workers, whether they are working remotely, transitioning back to the office, or a mix of the two.

Here’s what you need to know about the latest round of OneDrive updates.

Collaboration is key.

OneDrive is making significant changes to increase usability and adoption to enable teams to work better together, even when they are working apart.

Synchronized file-sharing keeps teams organized and on-task.

With new synchronized file sharing features, every organization’s files can be kept up-to-date and are fully accessible across all users and devices. Your teams won’t have to waste time searching for the information they need, or have to ask, ‘where’s that file?’ or ‘is this the most updated version?’ and wait for a response again.

Shared files and content will now live in one location, so there is no more searching through multiple folders and applications. They can be accessed and updated in real-time while still maintaining security and adhering to compliance policies.

Users can also add each other to files or give special privileges for access and editing to foster better collaboration and teamwork. Users will have the option to create links that provide access to anyone within the organization, users with existing access, and others. Even better–those permissions won’t disappear just because a file moves to a new location in the cloud.

Greater flexibility and control options enable a more productive working environment for everyone.

Increased file sizes are now available for everyone: The upload file size limit recently increased from 15 GB to 100 GB in OneDrive and SharePoint. That means less buffering and less frustration when sharing large files across your organization.

Additional user functions, such as turning off distracting comment notifications, give your teams greater control in determining how they work best and what features can support their working styles.

Enhanced administrative visibility creates stronger and more compliant organizations.

With OneDrive’s updates to reporting and monitoring, administrators can take a deep dive into understanding what’s happening across their technology environments.

With a streamlined dashboard, admins can gain visibility and access insights on the health and usage of OneDrive across all users and all devices. Through these features, admins can make additional team support recommendations, assess security risks, and troubleshoot issues before they become full-blown problems.

With the newest Microsoft OneDrive features, you can create a team environment that is more connected, flexible, and secure. For more information about upgrading or implementing OneDrive in your organization, contact our team of experts at Concensus to talk.
